Quick overview of today's topics. I'm going to be doing a deep delve into our most recent PowerPoint Interaction assignments and the touching up on some technology-related topics.  Assignment 5: PowerPoint Interaction Pictured above is the home page of my most recent PowerPoint project. When instructed to create an interactive assignment or game I immediately knew that I could combine my most loved past time and my most hated past time. Math and board games. Within working on this assignment, I learned how to stop linear movement within a PowerPoint as well as learned how to link pages to one another. In doing so I was able to create this fun, interactive Algebra One board game.  Classmate Blogs I was shocked at how amazing some of my classmate's blogs were. Everyone had so much information and interesting themes, so it was a prideful feeling when viewing them. There were definitely some new tools and things I picked up when looking at my classmate's blogs that I'll

Good afternoon bloggers! Talking today about classroom experiences, open educational resources (OER) and PowerPoints, let's get into it! Classroom Experiences   My experience in EME2040 has been so helpful and necessary to my educational track of becoming a teacher. I considered myself well versed in technology until I took this class. There are so many tools that I learned about while taking this course that I didn't know existed. I can totally see myself using almost all of these tools in my future classroom.  Open Educational Resources Open Educational Resources or OER, are helpful tools used to expand our learning community. Radio shows, TV shows, and mail are great ways that learning materials can be spread that we don't often consider given the technological standpoint in education now. This blog post is a great way to get started about learning more about OER and why it's important to the education system.  Assignment 4: PowerPoint for Information Dissemination

Bonjour! I hope everyone is looking forward to the weekend just as much as I am. Today I'm going to talk about school websites, personal technology use, PB Works, and Twitter.  School Websites If you click on the above photograph you can see the link to the website.  School websites are a great tool to connect with teachers as students or parents. Here we can see information regarding school events like bookfairs, sports events, etc. We can also navigate through teacher information about class activities and a tentative course schedule. As a student or parent more information may be available via login information, but this can be helpful to those who do not have this information.  Future Classroom Technology Use I would love to someday be given the opportunity to create my own class website. I think this is a great way for everyone to get information. I think that I would use a website in place of handing out papers all the time, for example monthly newsletters. I also would want

Hello again! Brief introduction of our topic for today. I'm going to be discussing some of my personal experiences with technology, more specifically Diigo, blogging, and Canva.  Diigo Honestly, I don't have much to say here. Diigo is fine. That's about it. Not good or bad. It's quite frankly a bit confusing to use and read when you're in a group. One of the things I do actually like about it is the ability to add the extension to Google. This makes posting in a Diigo group that much easier. This being said, I DO NOT like the annotation and sticky note feature on Diigo. It's confusing and the sticky notes don't show up on the page, but rather on the side bar. Personally, I would really only use this program if I was required to.  Blogging Initially using Blogger was very confusing to me. The create format is hard to learn and use. But since I've gotten used to it and learned the best ways to use them, I have quite enjoyed it. I learned that blogging is

Cue Twitter notification sound! You may have guessed already from that first line but today I'm going to be talking a little bit about my Twitter fame. Just kidding my nonexistent followers would disagree with that previous statement. I'm just lightly going to touch base on some of my personal experience using the Twitter platform. In addition, I'll talk about some content related to the digital divide that education is currently experiencing, as well as some of my favorite academic software I hope to use someday.  Twitter Funnily enough I actually used Twitter in my early high school days because I was super into a band and joined a bunch of Twitter fan groups. SO EMBARASSING. But I stopped using Twitter pretty much completely until I had to start using it for this class. In this class, obviously this is much less boy band focused, and more education focused. I've really enjoyed looking at a lot of the teachers whom I follow's content. It has proven to be super ben

Before we dive in today, a bit of an overview of what were going to be talking about. We're going to touch base on topics related to ELA technology standards, some tools that an awesome website provides us educators, as well as how to conduct good internet searching.  The ELA Standards and Technology Matrix for Grade 8 Students discusses many ways in which we educators can teach and help students to learn about the ways that technology can be helpful in the classroom. Standard LAFS.8.SL.2.5 explains the ways in which teachers should be able to discuss the uses of multimedia platforms and programs like iMovie or online poster creators, in the everyday classroom. We as educators should be able to teach our students the importance of knowing how to use these programs as they can prove to be helpful in strengthening evidence and increase visual likability as well.  One way in which us educators can receive help in creating lessons that integrate the learning of such skills above is usi

Hello again! I hope that y'all are having the best day! Copyright So today I'm going to be discussing copyright and fair use. As teachers were often tasked with making lesson plans, handing out works sheets etc. But how do we overcome the issues of copyright? The simple answer would be to just create your own work, but unfortunately it's not that easy. Things like pictures, or even worksheets can be considered copyright. We can get around this problem by getting license's with Creative Commons. We can also encourage our students to do the same when working on online projects! Academic Dishonesty and Productivity But, encouragement only goes so far. In this day in age it's almost impossible to prevent students from "looking up" answers, or copying from the internet. Because of this it is imperative that we have an Academic Policy stating the repercussions of doing such a thing. We can also positively redirect students to helpful resources to gather informa
