Bonjour! I hope everyone is looking forward to the weekend just as much as I am. Today I'm going to talk about school websites, personal technology use, PB Works, and Twitter. 

School Websites



If you click on the above photograph you can see the link to the website. 

School websites are a great tool to connect with teachers as students or parents. Here we can see information regarding school events like bookfairs, sports events, etc. We can also navigate through teacher information about class activities and a tentative course schedule. As a student or parent more information may be available via login information, but this can be helpful to those who do not have this information. 

Future Classroom Technology Use

I would love to someday be given the opportunity to create my own class website. I think this is a great way for everyone to get information. I think that I would use a website in place of handing out papers all the time, for example monthly newsletters. I also would want to use programs like Underlined for students to use when conducting peer review. This is a collaborative tool that allows students to leave feedback. I would also love for my students to use programs like Canva to conduct presentations and other creative homework and assignments. 

Wiki Platforms



This past week we used PB Works to create a collaborative Wiki page. I honestly HATED using PB Works. I love the concept of creating an informative webpage, and I was able to use Canva for the design aspect of the project, but PB Works itself was very confusing and overwhelming to use. I did not like the layout of it, and I found it was relatively inaccessible. I cannot see myself ever implementing this program in my own classroom. 

Twitter Days of the Week Challenge

The Twitter Days of the Week Challenge was posted as an optional participation assignment for class last week. I did not find myself participating in this as I was completely overwhelmed with assignments between all of my classes. As we're coming up on spring break and midterms I have had multiple major assignments due. I would have loved to have participated in it as it seemed like a lot of fun, but just did not have the time.

 Hello again! I hope that y'all are having the best day! Copyright So today I'm going to be discussing copyright and fair use. As teachers were often tasked with making lesson plans, handing out works sheets etc. But how do we overcome the issues of copyright? The simple answer would be to just create your own work, but unfortunately it's not that easy. Things like pictures, or even worksheets can be considered copyright. We can get around this problem by getting license's with Creative Commons. We can also encourage our students to do the same when working on online projects! Academic Dishonesty and Productivity But, encouragement only goes so far. In this day in age it's almost impossible to prevent students from "looking up" answers, or copying from the internet. Before we dive in today, a bit of an overview of what were going to be talking about. We're going to touch base on topics related to ELA technology standards, some tools that an awesome website provides us educators, as well as how to conduct good internet searching.  The ELA Standards and Technology Matrix for Grade 8 Students discusses many ways in which we educators can teach and help students to learn about the ways that technology can be helpful in the classroom. Standard LAFS.8.SL.2.5 explains the ways in which teachers should be able to discuss the uses of multimedia platforms and programs like iMovie or online poster creators, in the everyday classroom. Quick overview of today's topics. I'm going to be doing a deep delve into our most recent PowerPoint Interaction assignments and the touching up on some technology-related topics.  Assignment 5: PowerPoint Interaction Pictured above is the home page of my most recent PowerPoint project. When instructed to create an interactive assignment or game I immediately knew that I could combine my most loved past time and my most hated past time. Math and board games. Within working on this assignment, I learned how to stop linear movement within a PowerPoint as well as learned how to link pages to one another. In doing so I was able to create this fun, interactive Algebra One board game.  Classmate Blogs I was shocked at how amazing some of my classmate's blogs were. Everyone had so much information and interesting themes, so it was a prideful feeling when viewing them.
