 Hello again! Brief introduction of our topic for today. I'm going to be discussing some of my personal experiences with technology, more specifically Diigo, blogging, and Canva.  Diigo Honestly, I don't have much to say here. Diigo is fine. That's about it. Not good or bad. It's quite frankly a bit confusing to use and read when you're in a group. One of the things I do actually like about it is the ability to add the extension to Google. This makes posting in a Diigo group that much easier. This being said, I DO NOT like the annotation and sticky note feature on Diigo. It's confusing and the sticky notes don't show up on the page, but rather on the side bar. Personally, I would really only use this program if I was required to.  Blogging Initially using Blogger was very confusing to me. The create format is hard to learn and use. Cue Twitter notification sound! You may have guessed already from that first line but today I'm going to be talking a little bit about my Twitter fame. Just kidding my nonexistent followers would disagree with that previous statement. I'm just lightly going to touch base on some of my personal experience using the Twitter platform. In addition, I'll talk about some content related to the digital divide that education is currently experiencing, as well as some of my favorite academic software I hope to use someday.  Twitter Funnily enough I actually used Twitter in my early high school days because I was super into a band and joined a bunch of Twitter fan groups. Before we dive in today, a bit of an overview of what were going to be talking about. We're going to touch base on topics related to ELA technology standards, some tools that an awesome website provides us educators, as well as how to conduct good internet searching.  The ELA Standards and Technology Matrix for Grade 8 Students discusses many ways in which we educators can teach and help students to learn about the ways that technology can be helpful in the classroom. Standard LAFS.8.SL.2.5 explains the ways in which teachers should be able to discuss the uses of multimedia platforms and programs like iMovie or online poster creators, in the everyday classroom.  Hello again! I hope that y'all are having the best day! Copyright So today I'm going to be discussing copyright and fair use. As teachers were often tasked with making lesson plans, handing out works sheets etc. But how do we overcome the issues of copyright? The simple answer would be to just create your own work, but unfortunately it's not that easy. Things like pictures, or even worksheets can be considered copyright. We can get around this problem by getting license's with Creative Commons. We can also encourage our students to do the same when working on online projects! Academic Dishonesty and Productivity But, encouragement only goes so far. In this day in age it's almost impossible to prevent students from "looking up" answers, or copying from the internet.
